County officials are revising building permits after Westgate Resorts have announced that they will start building their proposed 24-million-dollar timeshare towers around the holiday home of a widowed pensioner.  Westgate have been fighting the now 81-year-old Julieta Corredor for the last 10 years to purchase her holiday duplex next to sea world so that they can finally develop their timeshare project on the site.

The pensioner has knocked back every offer to buy, move, transfer her condo, as it holds so many memories for her and her family.  She has owned the condo for the last 30 years, which she purchased with her late husband to enjoy the parks with their children and recently their grandchildren.  Julieta has been offered over double the value of her condo from Westgate, but point blank refuses to go.  William, 54, Julieta’s son has said that his mother is not worried about the money, she bought the condo 30 years ago for $139,000 and Westgate has offered a sum of $150,000 which to Julieta is not double of what she believes it is worth.  However, the other condos around this one had recently sold for around $69,000.

She now has 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren that she hoped would continue to enjoy the home, and all of the amenities nearby.   Unfortunately, this is not the case as Westgate have bulldozed all of the other holiday homes, tennis courts, spa facilities, and surrounding grounds to leave only an ‘unsafe’ structure left in the middle.  The condo has been deemed unsafe as whilst the construction work was being carried out, the bulldozer just happened to ‘accidently’ bulldoze the side of the house deeming it ‘unsafe’ by the county.

To add insult to injury, Julieta may be cited for a code violation which will force her to repair the property, as this is the procedure that the county takes to make sure that an unsafe building is not habited.  Westgate have provided Julieta with their insurance details for this matter, but it is just another stressful step in the whole process for the pensioner.

Weiss, the director of Orange County community, environmental and development services, has said that Westgate’s approval of the 180-acre development could be undone if it is found that the developers have misrepresented their ownership of all properties in their plan.  The permit to knock down the land in 2012 was out of date and it did not include the land immediately around Julieta’s condo anyway, the contractor that signed the permit would not comment.

“This isn’t about their mother’s vacation home; this is about how much money they can get us to pay,” Chief Operating Officer Mark Waltrip said. “We’re building around them.”  A bold statement from the head of the project for another massive timeshare organisation ‘Wesgate Resorts’ victimising a pensioned widower.
