We have been reporting on a widower whom took on a battle against the huge timeshare entity that is Westgate. Julieta Corredor found her family holiday home partially destroyed after Westgate commenced work on the planned tower block of new timeshare units, and ‘accidentally’ knocked down part of her holiday home. You are able to read the full story since May this year on these pages.

Julieta and her family appealed to Orange County commissioners with the intent of halting the $24million project in its tracks. However, her and her sons lost the battle against Westgate, whom are allowed to continue with their project. The widower has been offered money or an exchange for her holiday home, up to $150,000, or a replacement holiday home of the same standard and quality in a similar location at one of Wesgate’s other Timeshare resorts.

Julieta and her family were holding out for a larger offer, which never came. The deal still has to be made as to what they will accept for the offer, but Westgate are sighing a big sigh of relief after having invested a lot of time and money into their new project. Waltrip, Westgates Chief Operating Officer said that Westgate would still consider making an offer even though the Corredor family has portrayed them as bullies. He goes on to say that the demands were unrealistic that the widower wanted $2million for the condo that Westgate only want to knock down.

This has been a very to and fro fight between the widowers family and Westgate, and one would presume that it will not end here. Firstly, there is still an offer of some sort to be accepted by the pensioner, but Waltrip has said they need to come up with a more realistic figure. They have already been offered much more than the condo is worth but the Corredor family was playing on the story with sentimental stories. Westgate, however are now in no rush to settle anything now that their building work can commence again, and the project does not need to be halted.
