It’s really difficult to admit when you have been duped. The range of emotions you have to deal are varied such as being devastated, angry, incredulous and hurt. What you can’t do though is blame yourself. It’s difficult to give yourself a break when you have made a momentous decision that has resulted in loss of finances, you cannot let it break your will as well.

It is important that you do not allow others to judge you or allow their already made judgments to effect your confidence and your sense of well-being.

If you decide to take any action against the organisation or individuals that have swindled you, they should be sympathetic to your situation, yet if you are made to feel like anything other than a victim of a scandal, you must make sure you stand up for yourself. People to enormous corporations are victims of fraud and swindlers every day – you are not on your own.

It’s essential that you realise, understand and accept that you are a victim and that there are unscrupulous people in this industry who have no hesitations in taking advantage of people who are looking to enhance their lives by purchasing a holiday (or a lifetime of holidays) that they feel they deserve and have worked so hard for.

What could be considered quite scary is that these salespeople spend time studying their craft and their sole purpose is to make sure you, as the consumer parts with as much money as you can afford, or not in some cases as quickly as possible. The trouble is you end up being the victim of their low life behaviours, but then end up blaming yourself! I have been told stories of people who have been sucked in by the timeshare monsters who cannot get over it and suffer with anxiety and worse because they believe themselves to be at fault – which is not true!!

You have to be able to move on from this, I know that may be easier said than done however you only have this one shot at life and you cannot let it be ruined by people who had no second thoughts about you and what affect their actions would have on your life.

If you find that being swindled has really affected you and you feel that you are not able to move on from it, make sure you seek some help. Speak to a family member, a friend or a medical specialist. You cannot let resentment and anger build inside you as eventually you will burst and your feelings and actions could have a detrimental effect on the loved ones around you without you even realising it.

Don’t spend your time trying to figure out why this has happened to you. The people who do it to you – they don’t care that it is ‘you’-just that it is someone.

We all get hurt in this life and being defrauded is another way for us to be hurt by other human beings – if at all possible, learn, live your life and move on – otherwise the situation and your feelings about it could destroy your life.

One day they will be caught and tried for their criminal actions, because that is what they are – criminals!
