Finishing the week on a happy note, we at the TCA can report that Westgate Resorts Foundation have invested $1m throughout central Florida and several other areas where it operates by issuing grants to those less fortunate and non-profit organisations that also help the communities.

Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa held a breakfast meeting with all the non-profit organisations that they handed out their grants to.  It was at this meeting that Westgate CEO, David Seigal, announced to the 65 non-profit organisations how much of a grant they had been awarded.  The organisations proudly accepted the grants, with their board members, staff and other officials all attending the breakfast event.

The foundation was inaugurated sixteen years ago to establish better connections, improve education, aid local community families that are suffering from crisis and support other such organisations that help these communities.  Westgate makes this contribution for their communities as they encourage innovation in the community and help strengthen the work force and those that may potentially make up part of their work force in the future.

If families have the help to get through crisis such as homelessness, abuse, lack of education, unemployment etc, then they will become stronger and hopefully contribute to the community in which they live in, which has a knock-on effect to the community, eventually making it stronger and a better place to live and work in, helping all of the businesses that are in these communities.

The full list of grants that were distributed at the breakfast event can be seen on Westgate Resorts page Westgate Resorts Foundation.  There were four special grants of $25k each awarded to 4 selected partners of the foundation this year, whom had excelled in pushing the Strong Families, Strong Workforce moto.  Making an extra special effort to aid the communities.  The programs that were awarded these are all in central Florida:

  • Accelerated Teacher Pipeline Program – Orange County
  • Hope for Students, Hope for Parents (Hope2) – Jobs partnership Florida
  • Gateways to Work – IDignity, Orlando
  • Be the Hero Bystander Education and Training – Seminole State College and Victim Service Centre.

It is refreshing to see that this foundation grows stronger year by year along with the community that it is helping thanks to Wesgate’s CEO, David Siegal and Vice president Mara Frasier believing they can make a difference!
